I look forward to the monthly Note Card Party, hosted by Vee at A Haven for Vee.It's really simple to participate and a great opportunity to meet other bloggers. Just choose 4 pictures from previous posts that would make a good note card. I like to keep a theme.
This month it's "The Girls". I value my network of girlfriends, and like movies and books about courageous women. One of my favorite quotes is from Eleanor Roosevelt, "Women are like teabags. You never know how strong they are until they get in hot water."
This Vogue pattern is a nod to my mother.
She was strong and beautiful and stylish, and she sewed for us.
I'm not sure why I decorate with pictures of women, but there you go.
One of the pictures below was my mother's and perhaps it was just a
way to continue her presence in my life.
These are all cropped closeups of pictures hanging in my house.
This sweet cherub is in my dining room
This young lady is in the hall bath
This beauty is also in the dining room
And this one was originally in my dress shop hanging
behind the jewelry counter
You can see the original Our Girls here, with proper attributions for the artwork.
Thank you Vee for a fun party!
I'm puttin' on some sparkle and goin' a-visitin'
Counting My Blessings

Loving "The Girls" here! Their faces are rather mysterious, don't you think? My great aunt once had her portrait done and it hung in her house for many years; it now hangs in the home of my aunt (her niece). I thought of Aunt Minerva's portrait as soon as I saw your collection.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing!
Your GALS are all gorgeous! They make wonderful selections for Vee's party. I'd love to be looking at these lovely ladies everyday.
ReplyDeleteTwo of those gals have such soulful eyes. I really like the one that hung in your dress shop, too. Your theme is very neat...what a great way to feature art that is meaningful to you and to honor women and your mother all at the same time. I'd love a set of note cards like these. Off to read the link.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder you have them hanging at your home. Every one of those photos sort of tells a little story, IMO. I love them. I really love the quote from Eleanor Roosevelt too. I hadn't heard that one. How true it is!
ReplyDeleteSo very beautiful. They look so lovely and delicate! Nicely done! Cathy
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pics. As the mother of two daughters, I've long had a soft spot for little girls now grown into young women. Such softness in these "notecards."
ReplyDeleteHi, Suzy-Q...I would buy these adorable note cards in a New York Minute. They are all just adorable. now, I am going over to read the orig. post. :)
ReplyDeleteVery nice! Hugs and blessings, Cindy
