Edited for My Favorite Thing @ Mockingbird Hill Cottage
I'm so very grateful for the ladies of my Life Group ~ we really DO do life together.
Twice a month, on Monday evenings, you'll find my living room packed with women of various ages and backgrounds. They come early and stay late (sometimes continuing their conversations outside long after I've turned off the lights.)
They have their favorite spots to sit.
Some like the sofas near the coffee table.
Others like the comfy chairs back in the "loge" section
While the group was originally formed around
our mutual interest in business (and still is)
we can not escape the challenges of relationships, finances or health issues
A few have come and gone, but the core group
has been together for several years now
Over time we've lost parents, marriages, businesses, jobs, and houses.
One lost her infant son.
On the other hand, some have grown their business,
found meaningful employment, and written books
we've been healed from cancers, and restored to families
We've cried, laughed, been inspired, hugged and clung.
We look to each other for strength, support,
understanding and accountability
We look to each other for strength, support,
understanding and accountability
We sing, we study, we pray - oh how we pray.
I think the best part is seeing how this group of women
has learned to pray in faith, and see their prayers answered
I've watched them stabilize, mature, cross over their "red seas",
be transformed and then, in some cases, move on.
It is an honor to be considered their leader
and to have the privilege of sowing into their lives.
Collectively, they are one of the joys of my life,
...and the reason I still put up a Christmas tree (:
Counting My Blessings,
xo Susy

Susy, this sounds like an amazing group of women. You describe them so well. I "hear" the pride you have for them in your words. I imagine that it is terribly easy to visit you and sit in your lovely home and have the opportunity to share and listen and pray.
ReplyDeleteDear Susy...YOU are a blessing to me.

Susy..
ReplyDeleteI can tell by the words that you've written, that this group is a blessing to you... and you are a blessing to them.
How wonderful to have a group of 'sisters' that you can count on and bond with!
Hope you have many, many more years of happiness with your Life Group.
Smiles :)

ReplyDeleteI don't know why, but this post brought tears to my eyes. How wonderful to belong to such a tight group of friends, who gather regularly and share with each other. What a blessing.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed your photos, as well. Lovely things.
I'm popping in from Claudia's party and am thrilled to be your 80th follower. I seem to be on a roll. I just followed another party-goer and was her 600th follower. Something going on with the zeroes today.
Have a blessed week!
This is beautifully written! I have the same kind of group that started as a pottery class and hasn't made a piece in a decade. None of us could have foreseen the changes in our lives or how close we would become! ~ Maureen
ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely, thoughtful and inspiring post. How wonderful you all have each other.
ReplyDeleteIt's easy to see why these women and the time you spend together is one of your favorite things, Susy. They sound like a remarkable group of people, and you're all so lucky to have one another. That sort of support and understanding is rare.
