This beautiful song was written by a guest singer at church. It's message is so simple, yet I seem to have a difficult time living it consistently.
"Love with His hands, see with His eyes".
I'm challenged every day to genuinely love others in thought, word, and deed...

Heavy Hearts
The tragic shootings in Seal Beach, Ca. struck close to home. Salon Meritage is in a popular business center I've frequented for years. The little boy at the center of the custody battle goes to school in our community. The sole survivor, a 73 yr. old woman whose daughter was killed, has strong ties to the community and staff at church. My hairdresser, who's in a shop directly across from the Salon, says they're "a wreck". We're numb with shock and grief. Things like this devastate so many, for such a long time. Please, please remember them now and after the news reports fade. And that they find their peace in the one called The Comforter, Healer, Redeemer, Restorer.Abundant Blessings,

For the Birds!
I was an early bird today, and had a hankerin' to blog...so I was inspired to share a few of the birds that nest at my house. Like so many of you, I'm drawn to bird figurines and art. I'm not sure when it started, but it appears I have a bird collection.
and a birdhouse
One of our REAL birds: Bobo the Brat
(she's so fussy, she hisses at herself in the mirror)
Handmade birds-on-a-Branch
and even a candle snuff
They're everywhere!
Looks like this early bird even got the worm!

Here's a little carved bird from my April Cornell days...
a vintage Sugar and Creamer
and one of my favorites... a McCoy bird
(you might enjoy one of my earlier posts Morning Light)
Vintage salt and pepper shakers;
the bottoms screw off to fill

A small planter ~ also McCoy?
Pie birds and a hand-painted plate
A little ceramic cuckoo-cuckoo clock

Hello Again
Fall has arrived ~ at least on the calendar.
For us in coastal Southern California it means crisp mornings, cutting back the rose bushes, light sweaters, and tennis shoes instead of flip-flops (maybe).

For me, it means
reluctantly closing the kitchen windows ,
endeavoring to keep the cookie jar full,
and (oh boy) the return of my Life Group on Monday night.
It's been a few weeks since the ladies have met.
We'll catch up with each other,
listen to music and teachings,
encourage each other, cry, pray and laugh together.
So! It's time to fluff the pillows...
throw a log on the fire...
wind the clock...
Put the kettle on...
and turn on the porch lights
WELCOME back my friends. I couldn't do life without you!
