It's going to be modeled after successful prayer-walk efforts in the city of Salinas, CA. and Boston, MA. called "Night Walks". Apparently, those involved with violence prevention programs believe that involving the faith-based community is essential to impacting neighborhoods.
I've been invited to "the table" because I founded and facilitated an intercessory prayer group, CityWatch, that met monthly and prayed for ten years for our city. I'm humbled to be a part of this huge step in the "church of the city" connecting with city government for the purpose of transforming community.
In the meantime, I'm making pico de gallo from some of our garden peppers.
Hope you're having a great Monday!

How wonderful to pray for the young people who are involved in gangs. When I was a nurse in the state prison we had 42 known gangs. Those young men had little families and hardly a father in sight.
ReplyDeleteI just made pico de gallo this morning.

Susy, what an awesome opportunity for the Christians of your community.
ReplyDeleteI hope it goes well and that you have many who will be willing to give of their time and effort to lay a foundation for peace in your city.
So glad you are going to be "at the table."
God speed.
Love, D.
Wow, Susy! That sounds great. I remember hearing about those prayer warriors who would walk the city streets praying. It gives me shivers...the good kind! Let us know how it turned out!
ReplyDeleteAnd I will pray for you! Wonderful!
