Porch Musings

I'm not a gardener, although I love plants.  My husband does it all.  He mows and edges, cleans out the beds, and goes to the nursery and plants new things.  He invites me to tag along for input once in a while  ~ but mostly he has it figured out.

I was outside waiting for the "gate guy" to come fix the electric gate that goes across the driveway, and snapped a few pix.  (I have my digital camera set so it makes a "shutter" sound - how about you?)

I wanted to show you what I got Hubby for Father's Day

Just what he wanted ~  ANOTHER FROG for the pond!

But this one was really old, heavy cement, and was already drilled to be a fountain.

I found it at the local flea market and said
"how much?  I'll take it"

  * * * * *
We enjoy our little courtyard ~ lots of wildlife to see year round
doves, sparrows, finch, hummingbirds, dragonflies, bees
hawks, egrets, and the occasional evidence of a raccoon

Imagine a square.  On the left side is the driveway.

At the top of the square is the fence the separates the courtyard
 from the front grass.

To the right is the gate and long porch that leads to our front door

(Not sure why that picture is crooked  /~")

We keep the gate locked, which means you can't get to our doorbell.
This is what people have to ring ~ and they DO!

And the bottom of the square is the porch that leads to the kitchen door.

It's a little square of happiness, complete with it's own eco-system
for our entertainment

P.S. I bought some folding, chippy chairs at the flea market
and they SOLD in one week

  3. Hi Susy!

I came over from Carol's to visit... and I have loved my visit here today.
You have such a beautiful place, and I adore your red door.
Red is my second favorite color for a door, besides black or dark charcoal.
Presently, our door is dark charcoal, but it was red :)

I'm your newest follower, and looking forward to reading your posts!

    Have a wonderful weekend!!

    Smiles :)

  6. I love your garden space Susy - I love having wildlife popping in to the garden because it is so entertaining to watch them.

I love those 'chippy chairs' - they are just so gorgeous and they go well with your birdcage too ... I don't think I would have been able to part with them.

Fabulous garden, thanks for sharing & inspiring

  7. I can't believe that is only the front and side of your yard. Your hubby does a fantastic job with the design and maintanence, but I certainly see a lot of you there in accesories and color. I just want to come by and ring that bell and have you come through that red door. Crooked or not, do you know how much I looove red doors? Now I'm going back to look at your yard again...so much to see.
