I have to say overall I liked them. The content was strong and at times graphic, and the language was rough for my taste (I'm a John Grisham fan for that reason) ~ but a compelling, character-driven story line kept me reading on.
You may recall the short-lived TV series by the same name (and based on the books), starring Maria Bello as a NY Detective. It caught my attention and I had watched several episodes. I thought it was a great new show, but apparently I was in the minority and it was cancelled. These books take place in England (another reason I liked them), and the TV series there, starring Helen Mirren, ran for 15 years.
If you like crime stories and don't mind the "adult situation" stuff, you'll like them. Just know that I won't be passing them on to my pastor to read.

Haven't read one of his since The Painted House (think that was the name) Anyway, Mary Higgins Clark's new one just came out. I've never missed one of hers. Just started "One Thousand Gifts" by Ann Voskamp, recommend by another sweet blogger.
I don't care for rough language either, it is so unnecessary, but a good series is fun to relax with, especially in the summer.
