Nor fruit be on the vines;
Though the labor of the olive may fail,
And the fields yield no food;
Though the flock may be cut off from the fold,
And there be no herd in the stalls --
Yet I will rejoice in the Lord,
I will joy in the God of my salvation.
The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer's feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills.
Habakkuk 3:17-19 These beautiful Old Testament verses end with the notation "To the Chief Musician" and were to be used in worship.

That was the passage that God gave my Mom when my Dad died. I thought it was so poignant.
ReplyDeleteIt will always have a special place in my heart.
thanks susy for this...it felt like peace washing over me....Hope your weekend is filled with love...His amazing love
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteI used to think I had faith. I'd pray for something then hope against hope for it to happen, but it was a cross-your-fingers kind of hope. In other words, I didn't really believe it would happen until I saw the evidence, contrary to what Hebrews 11:1 speaks of as faith. I am thankful for what the Holy Spirit is teaching me about the real meaning of faith; and that faith is built by living in the Word of God.
ReplyDeleteThat was a beautiful faith inspiring hymn!
This can be applied to so many aspects of our lives right now. ♥O
ReplyDeleteBeautiful verses
ReplyDeletePerfect for today!
ReplyDeleteWe sang this in choir several years ago. I really like that scripture and also the song. Thank you for bringing back this memory.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Charlotte
Such comforting scripture. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteHi Susy,

Hi Susy, These words have a settling effect. Very full of peace and hope. Happy Valentine's Day, Mollye
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Scripture--brings to mind Ron Hamilton's song, "Oh rejoice in the Lord, He makes no mistakes. He knoweth the end of each path that I take."
ReplyDeleteA very comforting scripture in these hard times, Susy. I lean on "The Lord God is my strength". I'm sure it is beautiful as a hymn too.
ReplyDeleteThis one really spoke to me, thanks for posting.
that is one of my favorite passages from
ReplyDeletescripture because of the encouragement
to rejoice even when nothing is giving us
a reason in our lives to do it!
we just do it out of love for Him.
dear suzy,
ReplyDeletei have been caring for an elderly mother
in law and moved her yesterday. as i was
flying home, exhausted, i thought about
quitting my blog.
now today, i read your precious words of
encouragement. this is a good example
of never making decisions when very
tired. :)
thank you.
The photo goes nicely with this this section of Scripture!
ReplyDeleteThere are plenty of deer up this way; however, I have seen most of them grazing in the foothills before coming up the mountain. The other night, there were 2 deer directly in my path coming up the highway. They looked at me like, "Oh, it's you." And then I got to see them gracefully leap away — even over a concrete barrier.
Wonderful images.
